I jumped at the chance when my husband suggested going to the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad this weekend. Not only is it my absolute favorite resort, but I was so happy to have some unfettered quality time with the kiddos before they started school.
Pulling up to the resort grounds with the lush landscaping is so magical. It does not feel like you are in San Diego, but rather a tropical wonderland. And opening the doors and taking in the hotel’s signature fragrance just sets the beautiful tone of your trip.
Not only is the staff so attentive and amazing, but one member even told me that this was the happiest place she’s ever worked at. I mean I don’t think I stopped smiling once this trip. Past trips felt to be more difficult with the kids, but this one was just perfect…maybe it’s the mindfulness and gratitude that I’ve been practicing? 🙂
Plus…I slept till 8am! I don’t remember the last time I slept so well. I felt so rejuvenated and that feeling I had within me was projected to the outside world. Being rested and relaxed was exactly what I needed to be my best self, and in turn being my best for others. It was an amazing trip and I greatly look forward to going back.
When I left the resort, it got me thinking on how much I love San Diego. Driving down the coast from Carlsbad (which is a trip I usually do weekly), never gets old.
I love checking out the bustling downtown in Encinitas.
I love watching all the folks biking and running down to Cardiff and Solana Beach.
I love seeing all the cute and happy dogs at the beach in Del Mar.
I love peeking at that beautiful home, before I reminisce on all the amazing hikes I’ve done at Torrey Pines.
And I love cruising down La Jolla until I get to one of my absolute favorite beaches in San Diego, Windansea.
I always try to capture in words why I love the beach so much (Read more in One with Nature). But my words don’t even come close to capture the great immensity, the great beauty, and the great life source, that is the ocean.
The feeling I get when I’m at the beach is the ultimate bliss.
It is as if my soul is being recharged by the ever crashing waves. Every fiber on my body is being awoken by the salty air mist. And my eyes, the windows to my soul, light up from the Sun beaming down on the glistening sea.
The ocean envelopes every sense of you. And because of that, it is so easy to be mindful in its presence. Just me writing that passage got me so relaxed and daydreaming in awe of the magnificent blue wonder.
Sadly, I can’t be at the beach at all hours of the day to get that replenished and rejuvenating feeling, but I strive to attain that same inner peace when the going gets tough.
When life calls you, how do you answer?
Do you react in anger, drawing from a pool of fear and anxiety? Where you curse and groan on whatever task you have to begrudgingly complete.
Or do you answer with peacefulness, drawing from a pool of serenity, where you’re present and mindful of all the beauty that surrounds you.
We are at our best when we are taking care of ourselves, so are you getting the self-care you need?
Are you sleeping well, eating well, and getting regular exercise?
Are you doing the things to make you feel relaxed and renewed? It doesn’t have to look like heading to a resort or my personal favorite of going to the beach. It could be as simple as having a candle-lit bath or journaling or meditating.
When you take these self-care measures you will attain an inner peace where awesome things start to occur! You can work through any mental issue you are dealing with, you begin to uncover your talents, you are mindful and grateful in each and every moment, and you become in awe of the wondrous thing that is life.
You owe it to yourself to be the best person you can be.
Take care 😉
